Oh what a perfect evening. City 4 - 0 Tranmere.

In front of the Sky camera's you would want to put up a good performance. Wish 1 granted.

For all his efforts of late you'd like to see Peter Thorne get a goal or two.
Wish 2 granted.

Another player who deserves a goal for his efforts, Rhys Weston.
Wish 3 granted.

A big win to justify our domination of games.
Wish 4 granted.

City were awesome at times against a Tranmere team blowing hot and cold. As usual City had to attack a rather large defence but Tranmere I thought did look dangerous but they rarely troubled Alexander. Only once in the first half did Neil have to make a save and in the second half all efforts towards his goal went either high or wide.

Tonight was about Cardiff City. Earnie had hit the post before Peter Thorne claimed his first goal of the night. Thornes first effort hit the post but the player was on hand to put home the rebound. Half time gossip claimed that Sky were suggesting it could have been an own goal as the defender was close to Thorne. It appears though that no one is going to take it away from the City striker. City's second came from the penalty spot. The energetic Layton Maxwell crossed but the Tranmere defender blocked with his upper arm. From the Bob Bank it looked a penalty and seeing the replay on TV the decision of the referee was spot on, so to speak. Rob Earnshaw strutted up to the ball and despite my cringing that he would make a mess of it he scored the perfect penalty. Achterberg in the Tranmere goal dived the wrong way as Earnie placed it just inside the left hand post. After the customary somersault Earnie picked up the pitchside microphone and yelled into it, those watching on Sky may have heard what he said.

City were playing some sweet football, Gabbidon and Prior I thought were outstanding but there was occasions where City were lax and easily gave away possession ala Blackpool last week. The other wise fired up Kavanagh one of the worse culprits. Maxwell did well on his first start this season but I still think he should play wider on the right.

Andy Legg went off in the first half (he will miss Mansfield on Tuesday) to be replaced by the superb Chris Barker. The man with the hairiest legs in football is a quality player and his cross late in the second half was the perfect assist for Peter Thorne to do what he does best, head back across the helpless Achterberg to make it 3 - 0.

Andy Campbell came on for Sky's Man of the Match Earnie and Campbell received a warm reception and he gave 100% when he arrived. As the 90 minutes came up Campbell broke free and was felled but the referee played the most delightful advantage and Rhys Weston (again running vitually the whole right wing himself) picked up the ball just inside the box and fired across the Tranmere keeper into the far corner. The player who at one stage of his City career took so much stick ran to the crowd in the lower Grandstand and was jubilant as he showed the fans the name on the back of his shirt.

The win tonight was so important. Wigan at the top drew, City are now level on 31 points but before we kicked off we'd dropped the 5th place after wins by Bristol City, Oldham and Crewe. A certain Josh Low scored Oldham's first in their 2 - 1 win at Q.P.R.

Only one word left to say about how I'm feeling tonight. Fantastic.
