Ole counting cost of Yeovil victory

C:WindowsTempphp9904.tmpToday's 4 - 1 win over Yeovil at Huish Park came at a cost to Cardiff City. A difficult first half saw Yeovil take the lead and then David Marshall and Ben Turner go off injured.

Marshall has dislocated his finger while Turner turned his ankle.

“This might have proved a costly match.” said Solskjaer

“We can only wait and see how much time David’s finger takes to heal, while Ben will have a scan.

“He’s a big man and when he falls awkwardly it can be a problem,  but we are hopeful neither injury is too bad.”

On the plus side, Solskjaer was delighted with the form of Kagisho Dikgacoi, who made his City debut, and under-fire striker Kenwyne Jones, who scored twice.

South African Dikgacoi played for just over an hour and Solskjaer said: “The more I see him the more certain I am that Kagisho is exactly the guy we need.

“He is physically strong, reads the game well and he can play football. That, possibly, is the most pleasing factor. I knew he could do the other bits, but he looks good on the ball and that will be important for us.”

Trinidad and Tobago international Jones scored twice and Solskjaer said: “He is a different type of striker to the others we have. When Kenwyne is on song he is a fantastic card to play.

“He has worked hard and came back after the summer with a great attitude. He deserved the reward of two goals against Yeovil and next he has to keep working.

“Kenwyne is part of my plans for the new season because if we go a little more direct he can hold the ball up and wins it in air.”

Cardiff face Chasetown on Tuesday at CCS with a Development squad that may include some senior players before completing the pre season games with a match at CCS against German side Wolfsburg.
