One paced City frustrates Jones

Dave Jones cut a frustrated figure as his side missed the chance to cut the gap between themselves and leaders QPR following their stalemate against Millwall.

"They came to counter-attack us and we couldn't get the ball in behind. It was one-paced and we needed to move the ball quicker. We lost our width too much," he said.

"We had enough players out there with ability to open up the door. We just got very frustrated and tried to keep going down the middle when we should have gone wide.

"It was up to us to break down Palace. We had a chance in the first half through Chris Burke and had that gone in then they may have opened up a little bit.

"We have spoken after the game and will speak about it again because we will get more teams who will come here and shut up shop and catch us sleeping at the other end.

"Seeing Seyi Olofinjana and Jason Koumas get 90 minutes under their belts is a bonus to us. It takes time but they will get sharper."

George Burley was pleased to see his side pick up their first point on the road this season.

"We are building a team and it was a million times better than Saturday," he said.

"I'm pleased as we have a lot of young players and we have to learn to build.

"We looked at Saturday's game and where we could learn. The lads are young and they needed to know that they can't switch off.

"I thought we played very well, worked hard and the gameplan worked.

"We knew it would be tough as Cardiff are a good side. They had a fair bit of the ball but I thought we had the best chances. We could have nicked all three points on another night.

"We just couldn't manage to take one of our opportunities. I'm disappointed with the result because we created the best chances.

"Overall it was a good team performance from our two wide players right from the back four to midfield and up front.

"If we continue to play well we will start picking up three points."
