Opening traing session at CCS and a chance to sit in the new stand

C:WindowsTempphpC738.tmpToday was the chance to not only see the players training session, meet the players and see the three European trophies but to also see the new stand at the Cardiff City Stadium. Quite aesthetically pleasing from the outside and quite a bland normal stadium stand within. Before 90 minutes of strenuous viewing the fans sitting in the new stand will have a chance to get some fitness training in climbing quite a few flights of stairs but with the vast majority of Cardiff fans being toned fitness freaks and teetotalers this should not be a problem.

Through the training session it did become apparent how high up you are though, with a bit of squinting (reported) needed to figure out who some of the newer players were. One change that was visibly clear elsewhere in the stadium was the removal of the seats in the directors area in which Vincent Tan vacates. The large red 'car seats' looked to have been replaced by a stage for the Super Cup winners.

Onto the actual training session the players started with a bit of jumping and dancing over cones then some dashing in and out of poles and short sprints. The noticeably quickest in the team being Maynard and Le Fondre there with Hudson maybe bringing up the rear. (ooh er)

Next up was two touch passing in a small area in which 2 games were going on with around 6 players each then onto passing and shots outside the box and then crossing from out wide. From the session it appears one of Ole's tactics will be having the full backs playing quite attacking and pushing on beyond the wingers. On the left linking up was Gunnars coming out wide from centre to push the ball out, with either KimBo as winger crossing or John or Fabio pushing on from left back and crossing. On the other side was Eikrem doing what Gunnars was doing the other side, with Brayford pushing on and Daelhi out there too.

Lastly was a quick tempo 11 v 11 game playing on the pitch sideways. Stand out player was easily Daehli, looking a cut above everyone with his quick feet, skill and range of passing. Mutch also standing out with his runs forward and a good finish for the goal. Both teams played a 4-4-2 whether that says anything about Ole's tactics remains to be seen, with Brayford looking very attacking and Turner looking an absolute tank. Cala appears to be a bit of a nutter, arguing with a couple of players throughout the game and fouling a couple of times. Kenwyn Jones throughout the session was either pure class or woeful, with a few shocking shots under no pressure, with 1 'worldy' of a volley in the training and a good headed in the game. A good little session with a decent turnout to watch in humid conditions and a chance to see what Ole's trying to do. The supporters who attended today seemed very eager to meet the trophies and players as the queue must have been at least 2 hours long, but seeing the players train was enough for me.
