Orient reject approach for Slade

C:WindowsTempphp4E22.tmpIt seems that Cardiff are very keen on the League One manager who just a week or so ago was on the verge of being sacked.

Now there's a chance he might be poached Orient are holding onto him. No doubt thinking of compensation.

The chasing of Slade is causing quite a stir. He is an organised manager who has won manager of the year a couple of times but at the lower levels. He has never managed in the Championship and certainly has never taken a team to the Premier League - which is Vincent's Tan goal this season.

'On Friday morning we were contacted by a lawyer close to Cardiff City and Russell Slade, who asked us to give permission for Cardiff to talk to Russell,' said a Leyton Orient club statement on Monday.

'That evening Russell asked the club for permission to talk to Cardiff. On Saturday the general manager of Cardiff approached us in order to again ask permission to talk to Russell.

'In all cases, we denied Cardiff the permission and we did not authorise Russell to talk to Cardiff.'

The fans have called for Tony Pulis to be appointed. A view shared by Craig Bellamy, who was offered the job before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over..

'I’m not right for the club at this present moment. They need to go a different direction and the club’s not right for me at this present moment. I wouldn’t be a good enough manager, it deserves better than me at the present moment.

'I’m doing my pro-licence at the moment. I need a bit of time. There are so many little aspects of the game I’m umming and ahhing about that I want to try and nail down before I make this step. Unfortunately in football your first step can sometimes be your last as well.

'The obvious choice would be Tony Pulis.
