He will remain with the Welsh squad as he hopes to be in a position to be selected for the home game v Poland 4 days later.

Page's absence and that of Rhys Weston (who will miss both Welsh games)means that Daniel Gabbidon with most probably be partnered in defence by Andy Melville or possibly James Collins. Collins started against Northern Ireland and had an unlucky slip to allow the Irish to score.

Neither Collins or Melville have been playing regular football. Melville has managed 20 mins in 7 weeks while Collins has played only once since the Wales v Northern Ireland game a month ago. That appearance came in the Carling Cup win at Milton Keynes.

Cardiff City's other Welsh representative is Paul Parry left winger has hit form in recent weeks but will be on the bench as Wales welcome back Ryan Giggs after suspension.
