Peter Sayer. 30 years on

BLUEBIRDS' FA Cup hero Peter Sayer is hoping for some synchronicity in this weekend's tie against Tottenham Hotspur.

Sayer, now 51, wrote himself into City folklore back in January 1977 when he fired the winner against a star-studded Spurs side in the competition's third round.

Now, virtually 30 years to the day, Dave Jones' current crop of players face the North London outfit again in the same round of the cup.

And Sayer, now bar manager at Preston Golf Club, is hoping that just like himself, it will be a local Cardiff boy who takes the plaudits on Sunday.

Sayer, who grew up in Pentrebane in the Welsh capital, is hoping current City midfielder Joe Ledley, from just down the road in Fairwater, can emulate his feat three decades on.
