Planes, trains and automobiles (oh and coaches)

As happened in the play off semi finals in 2002 Stoke City fans coming to Cardiff on November 8th can only do so on specially organised transports. Stoke are said to have wanted to do it differently this thime but South Wales police would only allow visiting fans if they come on the coaches laid on by the clubs.

It's expected the same rules will apply 4 weeks later when City visit the Britannia Stadium.

Sunderland police are treating the Cardiff City game next Tuesday in the same category as they would a local derby with Newcastle. A decent City following of potentially upto 1500 is expected to make the long journey North East with many flying from local airports to Newcastle and others planning to drive for the game and straight back afterwards.

The longest journey in the 1st Division, planned for a Tuesday night. Madness.
