Plymouth v Cardiff City. Match preview

Last updated : 14 September 2007 By Michael Morris
After the two week break it's back to league action.

Cardiff are away at Plymouth and the Bluebirds are looking for a third consecutive away league win. Last season City blew a 3 - 0 lead and were lucky to end up with a point as Darren Purse completed Plymouth's comeback with a late own goal.

Purse won't play tomorrow as he's one of a number of players out injured.

Riccy Scimeca broke down when trying to recover from his groin problem, Steve MaClean is out with ligament damage and there's a doubt over Glenn Loovens.

On the positive side Kevin McNaughton is set to play. He'll probably partner Roger Johnson in central defence. There's an outside chance that Steve Thompson could be in the squad. He's resume training ater being out with an injury caused on a banana boat when on his summer holidays. Joe Ledley is expected to recover from a dead leg picked up during Wales' win in Slovakia.

Robbie Fowler and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink will lead the attack.

Plymouth are boosted by the return of Dan Gosling for the first league game this season.

Larrys Mabiala is a doubt with a knee injury, while skipper Paul Wotton (knee) is also sidelined.

It's the start of a busy week with Watford visiting Ninian Park on Wednesday and another home on Saturday against Preston.
