Post match Peterborough reaction

"After Friday it was good to get back to winning ways despite the state of the pitch," Dave Jones said after the 2 - 0 victory over Peterborough.

"We dealt with the problem well enough but it is difficult to play our normal game on that surface.

"The grass has gone and only the fibres are left but due to our financial situation we were unable to pay for the necessary remedial works that could have improved the surface."

"We knew how Peterborough would set up after their win on Saturday and so we needed an out-and-out winger and that is why Chris Burke came in and did a good job," he said.

"It was a comfortable disciplined win and as long as we kept doing the right things I knew the goals would come."

With Cardiff in court on Wednesday fending off a winding up order and potential administraion Jones canot add to his squad. It looks as if staying in the Championship is in the back of his mind rather than promotion from it. City are 4th and in a strong position but lack of manpower is going to take an effect.

"The problem we have is that we are using the same group of players week in, week out and there will be games when things don't go our way." he said.

"Three games a week is very difficult for us but we only need five more points to ensure safety in the division."

Posh boss Jim Gannon had no complaints at the result.

"We never showed enough drive or quality to win the game and the difference between the sides was the speed and movement of their front players," he said.

"I am not expecting a dramatic turnaround at the club and it is going to be a long hard slog but at least I want the players to have the experience of being in this division."
