Reading goalscorer Kitson has last laugh

Reading striker Dave Kitson has been having a swipe at Cardiff City for not signing him when they had the chance.

"I was really upset, and a bit annoyed, that they never came in for me. I badly wanted to go to Cardiff," Kitson tells the Western Mail.

Kitson was available for £150,000 but Lennie Lawrence, after reportedly watching him 15 times, decided the player was too inconsistent and dropped his interest.

"Lennie Lawrence obviously wasn't taking into consideration the fact I was playing for a team in the old Third Division that was battling against relegation," Kitson continues.

"Unfortunately for me at the time, and unfortunately for Cardiff now, he didn't have the foresight to see that I was actually a good player individually.

"I'm grateful to Steve Coppell who came in and gave me my chance. Cardiff didn't show any faith in me. Reading have and I'm repaying that faith."

Last Saturdays goal was the second Kitson has scored against City. He was on target when Reading won 3 - 2 at Ninian Park last season.
