Ridsdale: 'Don't accuse us of not being ambitious'

The arrival of Michael Chopra, Anthony Gerrard, David Marshall, Paul Quinn and Mark Hudson have cost the club £5.25m according to the City chairman.

"We're committed to paying £5.25m in transfer fees so far this summer after signing Michael Chopra, Mark Hudson, David Marshall, Paul Quinn and Anthony Gerrard," he told the News of the World. "I'm pretty sure that's the most this club has ever spent in a single summer.

"We're doing everything we can to support the manager and build a team that can challenge for promotion. If you look at our levels of investment, I don't think we can be accused of not being ambitious."

Dave Jones has asked for three more players. If City get them and / or do not sell any more of the star squad members like Joe Ledley and Ross McCormack then City will go into the new season with a stronger squad.

Hopefully the Ledley situation will be resolved soon. Joe has one year left on his contract. Please either sign a new deal or leave so we can get a decent fee. Don't just run down your final season and leave for nothing next summer.
