Routledge rejects City and leaves immediately

Aston Villa have recalled Routledge early from his loan spell after they agreed a deal for the player with another club.

As you can see from the statement below, Cardiff City offered a three and a half year contract to Wayne but it wasn't enough. It's been speculated that Q.P.R. were going to take Routledge. We'll find out soon enough.

"Aston Villa have today (Friday January 2nd 2009) recalled Wayne Routledge from his loan spell with Cardiff City Football Club. We have also been informed today that they have agreed a deal with another club for the player.

"Having made a substantial offer to Aston Villa for his services and offering a three and a half year contract that was declined by Wayne,we are left to thank him for his six weeks at the club and to focus on the FA Cup match this weekend."

It was good while it lasted but to lose both Chopra and Routledge inside a week is not great.
