Rush and Toshack on Fowler and Chopra

Speaking about the possible signing of Robbie Fowler, Ian Rush has told Robbie to 'go for it'.

Rush, like Fowler is a Liverpool goal scoring legend,

"I've told Robbie to go for it." Rush told the Echo.

"I told him that Cardiff is a great city and the supporters are different class.

"I made it clear to him that he would enjoy the whole experience with the Bluebirds.

"Robbie has told me that he's seriously thinking about the move," added Rush.

"I told him that I think it would be the right move at the right time for both him and the club.

"I made it clear to him in no uncertain terms what he should do.

"It's not just a case of the Robbie Flower factor - he would bring skill and experience which would rub off on those around him.

"Robbie still keeps himself fit and he still scores goals and I know he could do a great job in the Championship.

"Getting him on board would be a great boost for Cardiff City, especially now with Chopra gone.

"I just hope it all comes together because I want Cardiff City in the Premiership.

"I want them on the football map because I want the best for Welsh football in general.

"And that will definitely be the case if Robbie goes there."

Meanwhile John Tosack has been speaking about the Michael Chopra transfer. Toshack himself left Cardiff over 35 years ago in a move to Liverpool that still hurts some Cardiff supporters to this day. You'll still here people say they've never been to Ninian Park since they sold Toshack.

"I think it's magnificent business. If the fee will be £5m then Cardiff need to be congratulated," said Toshack.

"Although he scored 22 goals for Cardiff last season, I'm not sure he would have scored so many next season.

"Defenders know him now and they would be a little bit more aware of him. It's a great deal for Cardiff.

"You'll always get supporters complaining they've sold the top scorer, but Cardiff finished with one point from their last eight games and Chopra played in those games," he said.

"Halfway through the season he went a number of games without scoring. I think the 22 goals he scored came in about 15 matches.

"In football, you can't be a politician and say maybe we should have done this or done that - it's always got be 'yes' or 'no'.

"If someone would offer me £5m for Chopra I would take it. Sometimes you would call board meetings to discuss such things, but I wouldn't even have done that - I would've taken it straight away.

"The players' thoughts are important as well and I would think Chopra himself is very happy with the move," he said.

"He's back up in the north east. I believe he's a Newcastle fan but I'm sure he'll get over that.

"So if the deal goes through for the figure that's been quoted, I think it's a great deal for both parties."
