"You just feel we are totally jinxed," Hammam told the Echo.

"Sometimes luck goes with you and sometimes it goes against you. Maybe one of our players or somebody at the club is sleeping with a witch!

"But I guess you make your luck and maybe we are not good enough for automatic promotion.

"There is an extremely outside chance we can still get automatic promotion, maybe two or three per cent, but I think its extremely remote. Sometimes you get what you deserve and some seasons you get less and if Bristol are honest they were very lucky to score the first goal."

As for his manager and the future Sam said

"Lennie Lawrence is a very good manager and we are very lucky to have him and next season, whatever fortune brings us, we will sit down in the summer and plan together in the same way.

"There are some good teams around who have a say in the playoffs and we can just do what we can now.

"We have three or four reports done on every team we play and any team that play Cardiff change their ways simply because it is Cardiff.

"There are exceptions in teams like Bristol who have ambitions of their own but it's difficult to spend 90 minutes playing a team who have 10 men behind the ball. But if we can't break them then we are not good enough. If we don't go up this season it means this team needs some surgery so I'll sit down with Lennie this summer and see where we go from there.

"We have a very powerful team and we think that on paper we are easily the best team in the division and we can't see a team that can come anywhere near us."
