Sam won't splash cash just yet

Sam Hammam has been speaking after the news that the new stadium project cleared the last major planning hurdle this week.

Sam is hopeful the building work can start in May and he's naturally delighted about the decisions that went City's way in the council meeting on Wednesday.

"These are exciting times for the club. What happened on Wednesday was very important to the future of Cardiff City," Hammam told the Western Mail.

"People around me are jumping up and down to celebrate, like they were doing after we won the Second Division play-off final.

Theere is excitement amongst the fans on the news but after several planning meetings and on pitch signings of documents, after many time delays I think that even the most loyal and optimist of fans will only really celebrate when they see diggers and cranes on the site at Leckwith.

Still we know it takes time and it was good news on Wednesday to see the remaining planning permissions granted for the retail side of the project. The stadium plans were approved a long while ago.
