Sheff Utd v Cardiff City. Match preview

Last updated : 28 October 2005 By Michael Morris
Dave Jones will be hoping to name an unchanged league side when City run out a Bramall lane tomorrow. Neil Alexander, Glen Loovens, Darren Purse and Kevin Cooper have all had treatment this week with all hopeful to be fit. Michael Ricketts will return to the side after being cup-tied for the defeat against Leicester.

Dave Jones goes into the game in confident mood. His team has suffered only one defeat in the last 10 league games and currently sit in 7th place. United of course top the pile with 37 points from 15 games. City have 22 from 14.

'We go to Sheffield with a positive frame of mind.' Jones told the Echo

'We believe we can win and there is no reason we can't. It's up to the players. They have to be big and brave, stand up to the test.'

United manager Neil Warnock expects City to give them a tough test. Also speaking to the Echo Warnock said

'I honestly believe and expect this encounter to be one of the toughest games of the season, because I know Cardiff under Dave Jones will come here and attack us and try to win the game.'

So far this season Utd have beaten Leicester (4-1), Preston (2-1), Coventry (2-1), Ipswich (2-0), Derby (2-1), Plymouth (2-0) ad Wolves (1-0). City will need to do very well to avoid being the 8th scalp.

Neil warnock is expected to bring Steve Kabba and Neil Shipperley back into the team after they missed the Carling Cup defeat at Reading in the week.

Kick off at Bramall Lane is 3:00pm on Saturday.
