SGRIN the media agency for the film made the announcement.
The film is being developed by 4 Way Wales, a Welsh subsidiary of a company set up by Robert Carlise, Irving Welsh, Mark Cousins and director Antonia Bird.
The movie will be based on the book of the same name.
