C:WindowsTempphp3C3.tmpAnthony Pilkington scored his third pre season goal in as many games as City beat Sparta Rotterdam on Friday evening.

The game, played in Nijkerk against the Dutch second division side, was marred from a City point of view by an injury to Bruno Manga.

The defender was stretchered off after 20 mins and will face a scan in Cardiff on Monday amid fears he could miss the start of the season in two weeks time. City are already without Ben Turner through injury and keeper David Marshall is suspended for the first three games, two of them in the League.

One other negative was the injury time sending off of Federico Macheda for a second yellow card. Slightly harsh, considering it was a friendly, for blocking the keeper.

On the positive side Pilikington (see video) fired in a cracker on 69 mins and Simon Moore, who will start the season in goals, produced a couple of quality saves to keep the home side out.

Kagisho Dikgacoi played as he looks to offer a contribution to the team this season after last year was wiped out through injury. He set up Pilkington's goal.

City stared: Moore; Fabio, Manga, Morrison, Malone; Ameobi, Ralls, Dikgacoi, Pilkington; Mason, Doyle.

Russell Slade made several changes in the second half but as the rain fell City completed the victory.

Now it's back home for the one friendly at Cardiff City Stadium. Newly promoted Watford visit south Wales on Tuesday. ko 7:45pm.
