As results go this one was massive. City are in a 9 way battle to avoid relegation and for once we got the rub of the green. On the pitch we did our bit by bagging the three points but away from the Britannia Watford lost, Crewe lost, Brighton lost and Gillingham drew. As a result we leapt up 4 places to 17th.

Rotherham were officially relegated after losing at Ipswich so there's only two places to avoid. Forest could find themselves in an impossible position if they fail to get anything from Wednesday nights game at Coventry.

Back to City. Cameron Jerome answered his critics tonight with a brace of goals. His strike partner and former Stokie Peter Thorne completed the win with a penalty.

Jerome was played in after a poor pass from Gerry Taggart. He slotted the ball past the keeper to make it 1 - 0 to Cardiff. A silly free kick awarded to Stoke saw the home side level 5 mins before the break. Gabbidon fouled after an error by Vidmar and Clint Hill fired home from 25 yards.

City came out with the better attitude in the second half and on 58 mins Jerome was again through on goal, this time he placed the ball over the keeper to make it 2 - 1. The Cardiff fans were still celebrating when Jobi McAnuff was felled in the box and from the resultant penalty Peter Thorne scored against his old club to secure a Cardiff win.

City are not yet safe but confidence will be up. With only 1 defeat in the last 6 City will feel they can get something out of Saturdays massive match against Wigan at Ninian Park. It's the return of Graham Kavanagh and his team that have lost their last two games and could find themselves play off contenders rather than the automatic promotion candidates they thought they were.

A huge crowd is expected with special offers on tickets.

Cardiff v Wigan this Saturday, bring it on.
