Stadium decision deferred until January

"Legal and technical reasons" are said to have delayed the finalising of agreements that accompanied the Costco planning application. Plans are still said to be on course, just deferred until January.

In total 6 planning applications have been submitted with three of them recommended for approval. Those three were due to be considered today but the Costco appllication was one of those, so now along with the other two they have been deferred until January whan all 6 come before council.

Leader of Cardiff, Councillor Rodney Berman, says this will not affect the timescale.

"We appreciate the eagerness of the Club, retail developers, the contractors and Cardiff City fans alike to see the stadium completed," said Cllr Berman. "But I would stress that this deferral will not materially affect the overall timescale," he says in the statement.

"Cardiff Council remains strongly committed to the stadium development and I am optimistic that we are on track to complete the complex and necessary agreements early in the New Year."

Sam Hammam told the official website

"This is very frustrating but I am pleased to see the confirmation from the Council and its Leader that this delay will not affect the development and overall timescale for our new Stadium.". Full quotes from Sam here.
