The builders of the Millennium Stadium and the Emirates Stadium in London are battling it out for the right to construct Cardiff City's new football ground.

Laing O'Rourke, which built the Cardiff landmark as well as Coventry City's Ricoh Arena, and Sir Robert McAlpine, responsible for the new Arsenal ground and the Ebor Stand at York Racecourse, have been shortlisted for the 30,000-capacity Leckwith stadium.

The winning bidder will also have the contract to build the retail park which will sit alongside the football stadium.

And the contract for the replacement athletics stadium has been narrowed down to two contractors, Carillion and Cowlin.
