Still in with a chance of the play offs, Division 1 round up

Last updated : 05 April 2004 By Michael Morris
The top two, Norwich and WBA, both won and look like taking the two top spots come the second Sunday in May.

The real battle is between the play off chasing pack. Sunderland have two games in hand and will harbor hopes have catching Norwich and WBA, I don't think they will but they will take up a play off spot.

Then there are 6 teams within 1 point of each other. Only Reading of those 6 actually won this weekend. City's win sees them 4 points behind this group and only 5 points from the last play off place.

For me the game of the season is coming up on Wednesday at the New Den. IF and thats a big IF Cardiff can win against Millwall then we have a 6 game end of season chase with only a couple of points seperating the play off candidates. Lose and we'll probably have too big a hill to climb.

Now I may get shouted down by those saying we should forget dreams of play offs but I think, as Millwall proved yesterday, that if oportunity knocks you should take it. It's only our first year back in Division 1, we've got nothing to lose by going for it.

City are a form team at the moment. 4 wins from the last 5 and three wins in a row. The season so far has been superb, a couple of dodgy moments but all in all it's been fantastic. 7 games left - why can't we get into the end of season lottery (we've done it before and won!!)

The weekend winners were City and Reading while there were defeats for Ipswch, Wigan, Sheff Utd and West Ham. Millwall and Sunderland were in FA Cup action.
