Gavin Rae and Trevor Sinclair helped City to a 2 - 0 lead but then Rae followed by Purse scored o.g.'s before two cracking volley's from Jason Taylor and David Poole made it 4 - 2 to Stockport. The 7th goal of the first half came from Cardiff when Steve MacLean made it 4 - 3.

Liam Dickenson and Anthony Pilkington took the score to 6 - 3 for the home side before a late Peter Whittingham consolation goal ended the scoring.

Turnbull, handed the No.1 shirt for the coming season, said of the game

"This was just one of those matches and Cardiff won't dwell too much on this.

"It's pre-season and you can't take too much notice of this. Everybody is preparing for the start of the League matches."
