Stumbling Bluebirds ruin Ninian farewell

End of Era
And it got worse a couple of hours later.

What could have been a great weekend was ruined by an inept Bluebirds performance, losing 6 - 0 at Preston last week was bad, then to go and ship 3 at home without reply is equally as pathetic.

A point would have guranteed a play off place but the defeat coupled with Preston's win at Birmingham later in the evening mean that City can miss out on the play offs if it all goes wrong on Sunday. If Preston had only drawn at St Andrews we would have been in the play offs but they scored an 89th minute free kick from distance to seriously hamper Birmingham's automatic promotion and to keep themselves in play off contention.

I have little to say about the game, main points Ross McCormack missed a penalty for the second Saturday in a row and in both matches our heads dropped afterwards and we went on to heavy defeats.

Roy Keane had to make a change in the first half when a defender came off. He put on a centre forward instead and the lad, Jon Stead, turned the game. He set up two goals and scored the third.

The game ended and then a fairly tame End of Era celebration followed.

Because of the 6 - 0 at Preston we lost a 12 goal advantage which mean that if they win and we lose next weekend they can knock us out of the play offs. a 1 - 0 defeat at Preston and we would have been sitting pretty. It's just unbelieveable how we've come to this.

Now next Sunday we may confirm a play off place and in 4 weeks time we may be a Premier League team. I'm not holding my breath but the players had better make sure they do their damndest to make that happen as they have seriously let the fans down in the last week and yesterday did little to enrich the memory of 90 years of Ninian Park history.

To blow the chance of automatic promotion was bad enough (if expected, it was a tall ask - but could have happened), if we go on to miss out on the play offs then it will be a disgrace.
