Sunday papers link Horsfield

It was mentioned in the Wales on Sunday yesterday that City could be interested in Geoff Horsfield. The former Fulham striker scored for the Bluenoses at the Millennium Stadium as they beat Norwich to earn a place in the Premiership.

Blues striker Geoff Horsfield is wanted by Cardiff City to spearhead their bid to reach the Premiership.

Sources in South Wales have confirmed that Lennie Lawrence is keen on taking Birmingham’s rampaging centre-forward to Ninian Park as they attempt to secure back-to-back promotions.

Cardiff have recently bought former Aston Villa frontman Alan Lee from Rotherham to play alongside Robert Earnshaw.

But they still want a forward with a proven Division One track record and Horsfield, who scored Birmingham’s goal in the play-off final against Norwich two years ago, fits the bill.

Lawrence has noted that Blues have bought in Mikael Forssell as well as Luciano Figueroa in the summer to supplement Clinton Morrison, Stern John and Christophe Dugarry. And Horsfield made way for John in the starting line-up at Newcastle yesterday.
