But they will find themselves in trouble now after celebrating with an anti Cardiff flag a t shirt.

The main culprit appears to be Lee Trundle who was photographed holding up a Welsh flag with the words F*** Off Cardiff written on it and then Trundle put on a t shirt depicting a Swansea player urinating onto a Cardiff shirt.

Alan Tate was also pictured proudly displaying the flag while being stood by the trophy they had just won.

The scenes were captured on camera by the photograher from www.gettyimages.com they are a leading supplier of photographs to the media. A look here shows the photo's in question.

South Wales police will now look into the matter.

Chief Superintendent Bob Evans told the Western Mail "I am aware of the incident and I certainly take a very dim view of what has happened.

"It was logged in our match report and has been reported to the Football League. An investigation has been launched and further inquiries will be made over the next few days."

Swansea Chairman Huw Jenkins said afterwards

“This could be something that Lee lives to regret. It's certainly something I can't defend. Maybe it was a heat-of-the-moment thing. We regret any offence that could have occurred through this.

“Lee will probably wish that this hadn't happened. I just hope that it doesn't cause any animosity between the two sets of fans. I'll be taking this seriously, we'll have to deal with it. I can't defend any of this. But I'd rather concentrate on the better things, like taking a trophy out of England.”
