Thorne again. Peter on bench against Bluebirds

Peter Thorne was City's record signing. He cost a whopping £1.7m when City bought him from Stoke in 2001. He was a hero at The Britannia Stadium and soon became hugely popular at Ninian Park. He will get a great reception from the travelling City fans tonight (as long as he doesn't come on to score the winner).

The 32 year old striker scored 46 league goals for City in 116 starts. He should have scored and played more but injuries have plauged him, and now he's at Norwich he's still strugling to stay off the treatment table. This season he's started just one cup game and come off the bench in 5 league games.

He's fit now though but lacking in match practice. He came off the bench for the last 23 mins against Sheff Weds last Saturday and is likely to be a substitute again tonight.

Talking to the Western Mail Thorne said

"I'm really looking forward to the Cardiff game - Cameron Jerome has already texted me to get me to swap shirts with him at the end of it.

"There have been so many changes at Cardiff that I was actually wondering how many of the players I'd recognise. I think everyone feared for Cardiff this season when so many players - people like myself, Danny Gabbidon and James Collins - left the club.

"But now I'm not surprised that they're doing so well because the new gaffer has brought some great players in. I was surprised by some of the players he managed to attract, particularly the likes of Jason Koumas and Michael Ricketts, but they've proved to be great signings for the club.

"I'm really pleased that Cardiff are having a good season - especially after what everyone went through there last year. That was a tough, tough season. In an ideal world a club like Cardiff would be in the Premiership. I'm sure that's still the ambition down there."
