A successful return could see Thorne challanging for a place on the bench at Forest on Saturday but first Thorne just wants to play.
"I'm keen to play against Bristol and all I need now is a game or two and I could be in contention for a first-team return," said Thorne. "It's been frustrating being out again after last season when I suffered a foot injury.
"I just hope all that is behind me and I can't wait to start playing again."
