Tonight in Cardiff, Bluebirds go to the wall

The project in conjunction with npower and Cardiff Council will see the walls of the castle illuminated with giant City players between 8.30pm and midnight.

The company setting up the display were responsible for the Gail Porter display on the Houses of Parliament a decade ago (right).

"We are delighted to have secured the services of Craig," Gethin Jenkins told the official website www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk "As current Wales Captain Craig is a fantastic addition to our squad - and he will no doubt add to the quality players that we already have here as we aim to secure our long term dream of reaching the Premier League. I would like to thank Championship sponsors npower and Cardiff City Council for helping support the unique event on Friday evening. I'm sure that all Bluebirds supporters and visitors to Cardiff will enjoy the occasion ahead of our match against Doncaster on Saturday."

Council Leader Rodney Berman will help launch the display he said "Craig Bellamy's arrival at Cardiff City this week has created a real buzz around the city. His capture is a real coup for the club and I'm sure City fans and indeed, the whole of Cardiff, are hoping he can be the catalyst to inspire the team towards the Premier League. A successful Cardiff City in the top flight would have enormous benefits for the capital so I'm hoping that having come so close last season, now with Craig Bellamy in the team, they can achieve the goal this season. I would like to officially welcome him home and urge the whole city to get behind Dave Jones' men in this season's championship campaign."

Cardiff Council has a vision to establish Cardiff as a World Class Capital City of Sport with first class infrastructure and excellent participatory opportunities which will enable us to maximise the benefits of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Cardiff was awarded European City of Sport in 2009 by the Association of Cities and Capitals for sport (ACES) in Brussels and as a result of the improvements in the city's infrastructure and the partnerships developed with our top flight clubs, we have been shortlisted as Capital City for Sport 2012.

Emma Collins from npower says "It's not surprising that one of Britain's leading strikers transferring to his home-team has turned into one of the biggest sports stories in recent weeks. There can be no question of Craig Bellamy's talent, the same can be said of the quality of the current line-up of teams in the npower Championship. We are delighted to support Cardiff City in celebrating the return of the Welsh International back to arguably the most exciting league in the world, the npower Championship."

Please try your best to get along and have a look.
