Top three frozen out. Division 2 review

David Eyres, in action here against Cardiff (where he scored a late leveller), scored Oldham's late winner at Stockport.
Oldham did themselves a favour by scoring a late winner through David Eyres in the Greater Manchester derby at Stockport. Bristol City though continued their woeful 2003 with a defeat at Notts County.

QPR, Blackpool, Luton and Tranmere in the 6th - 9th positions all won to close in on the play off places.

Crewe v Wigan and Peterboro v Cardiff both fell foul to frozen pitches so Oldham had the chance to match Cardiff for points. They did that with a win at Stockport. Oldham have played two games more than Cardiff. Bristol City are in free fall, their once secure play off cum promotion place is in grave doubt. An 8th game without a win in 2003 sees them in 5th place, 5 points behind City having played two games more and only two points ahead of Blackpool in 7th place.

QPR in 6th are in fine form, they have picked up 19 points from the last 24 available, they are the form team of the Division. They crushed Port Vale 4 - 0 and are looking good for a play off place.

Blackpool, Luton and Tranmere all won as well over Brentford, Northampton and Plymouth respectively.

Cardiff have the advantage of games in hand to open a gap over Oldham and the chasing teams. Games that must be won.
