Tottenham and Cardiff are the two teams pushing hardest to try and sign Gareth Bale this summer.
Bale will leave Real Madrid when his contract expires in June, bringing an end to a nine-year stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Evening Standard reported last month that Bale's future depends on whether Wales qualify for the World Cup - a playoff with Scotland or Ukraine stands between them and a place in Qatar - and he could even retire if those dreams are prematurely dashed.
Should Wales make the finals though, Bale is open to signing a short-term deal with a new club in order to remain fit for the tournament, and Spanish outlet Sport report that Spurs and Cardiff have been 'sounding out' a potential deal.
Bale spent six years at Tottenham towards the start of his career, bursting onto the European stage and ultimately earning a then-world record £85m move to Real Madrid in 2013.
He then returned to north London on loan for the 2020/21 campaign, grabbing an impressive 16 goals in 34 games before heading back to Spain to see out the final year of his Real Madrid contract.
Hometown club Cardiff could offer Bale the chance to play his club football in Wales for the first time. The Bluebirds will participate in next season's EFL Championship - a level the forward hasn't played at since the 2006/07 campaign with Southampton.
