Training facilities

Cardiff Blues and Cardiff City FC will join forces next year to take advantage of the new, comprehensive £10m state-of-the-art training facilities on the outskirts of the city.

The two capital city sides and the Welsh rugby union and football teams will share the new 40-acre development at Hensol in the Vale of Glamorgan.

It will feature six international-standard training pitches including an artificial grass pitch, a six-lane running track and top of the range catering and recovery facilities.

Work is expected to start in April with the spring of 2008 as the target for completion of all the facilities.

It is a far cry from when the Bluebirds and the Blues used to watch each other train on the University fields in Llanrumney.
