Trains running Dry and City fans travel schedule

Last updated : 05 January 2006 By Michael Morris
No alcohol will be sold on the services nor will it be allowed to be consumed.

A spokesman told the Echo

"On the advice of British Transport Police alcohol will be prohibited on services to and from Paddington before and after the match."

Alcohol will be served in Highbury before the match, but not at half time and there are pubs allocated for City fans use.

The full travel details and pub details are below in the info package from the Valley Rams that include coach pick up times.

Have a great day at Highbury.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL TRAVELLERS GOING TO HIGHBURY:

Car Parking

The best advice to supporters driving to games at Highbury is to park their vehicles at an underground station situated near the end of one of the underground lines serving the stations around the stadium. For example, supporters travelling from the North would benefit from parking at or near Cockfosters or Oakwood underground stations and taking the Piccadilly line to Arsenal, Holloway Road or Finsbury Park stations.

Nearest underground stations to Arsenal Stadium

Station Underground line/British Rail
Arsenal Piccadilly Line
Holloway Road Piccadilly Line
Finsbury Park Victoria & Piccadilly Line
Main Line British Rail
Highbury & Islington Victoria & Main Line British Rail
Drayton Park Main Line British Rail

If private vehicles have to be brought to the area around the ground it should be pointed out that Arsenal stadium is situated in a residential area and parking is very limited and restricted in the surrounding streets.

It is strongly advised that private motor vehicles are parked away from the ground as on a match day Islington Borough records high levels of motor vehicle crime.

A resident’s only parking scheme is in operation on match days and those streets to which the scheme applies are clearly signposted.

Some local schools in the vicinity of the ground operate car parks on their premises. A fee of about £5 per car is charged.

Police or the Local Authority may remove illegally parked vehicles.

Disabled parking facilities

Disabled persons and their helpers, in possession of orange disabled drivers discs, are accommodated in Elwood Street which is situated between Blackstock Road and Avenell Road, very close to the ground itself. Here they will find plenty of official disabled parking bays available on a first come - first served basis. Those arriving at least two hours before kick off should not find any difficulty parking here.

Coach parking

Coaches are parked in Drayton Park, which is a short walk from Arsenal Stadium and directly next to the new Emirates Stadium. (see attached map)

Directions to Coach Park

It is requested that ALL coaches attending this fixture follow the following route to Arsenal Stadium.

Follow the M4 into London and then leave at junction 1 and take the A406 Gunnersbury Avenue towards Wembley. Follow the A406 until it meets the A1 and follow this southbound onto Archway Road and then Holloway Road. Continue along Holloway Road for approx. 1.5 miles, eventually passing under the railway bridge with Holloway Road Underground station on your right. At the 2nd set of traffic lights, turn left into Drayton Park.

Administration

Coach companies MUST inform local police of their intention to travel and the number of supporters being carried. They MUST only set down and pick up passengers in Drayton Park.

The left turn from the Holloway Road (A1) into Drayton Park is NOT suitable for 12 metre coaches and it suggested that drivers of these coaches continue South on Holloway Road to Highbury Corner roundabout and return North along Holloway Road turning RIGHT into Drayton Park. The road to the parking area is signposted and Police are on hand to assist.

As far as possible, coaches should time their arrival between ninety minutes to two hour before the start of the game. Drivers and operators should be reminded of their responsibilities regarding the carriage of alcohol to sporting events.

Coaches will be parked under police supervision facing SOUTH in Drayton Park commencing at a point immediately NORTH of the junction with Martineau Road.

Supporters should remain in the coaches until the vehicle has finally parked, hopefully ensuring they return to the correct vehicle immediately after the game.

Police will endeavour to provide assistance allowing coaches to leave the area as quickly and safely as possible. Supporters returning to their coaches immediately after the game will greatly assist in this.

Directions to Mini-bus Park

Follow the directions for Coach Park above. Continue along Holloway Road for approx. 1.5 miles, eventually passing under the railway bridge with Holloway Road Underground station on your right. Turn left at the traffic lights into Hornsey Road and then right at the mini-roundabout into Benwell Road. The Mini-bus Park is located on the left in Queensland Road next to the new Emirates Stadium.

Visiting supporters

Visiting supporters will be directed to the turnstiles in Highbury Hill and Avenell Road where local police will be on hand to assist them into the ground.

Cardiff supporters are located in the South Stand (Clock End) and Lower West Stand. Those in Blocks 19 through to Block 22 should enter the stadium via Avenell Road, while those with tickets for Blocks 17, 18 and Block T of the lower West should enter via Highbury Hill.

Arsenal Football Club actively encourages ALL spectators inside the ground to sit down during the game. There are specific ground regulations prohibiting standing in the seated areas while the match is in progress. Whilst accepting that there will be moments during the game where it is necessary to stand, club stewards, supported by police when required, will eject fans that persistently refuse to sit down when requested to do so.

Public houses

The following public houses have been nominated as designated away pubs for this fixture. DRAYTON ARMS (Drayton Park/Martineau Road), THE LORD NELSON (Holloway Road/Ronalds Road), THE CORONET (Holloway Road/Jackson Road) and THE HOLLOWAY (Holloway Road/Camden Road)
