Trust Open Meeting Report

Last updated : 31 January 2011 By Tim Hartley
This was the best turnout we have had for this kind of open meeting and offered us a chance to discuss what's involved in becoming a Board member and how people can get involved in the work of the Trust. This led to a wide discussion about what we should be doing and how we can ensure added value for Trust members. Everyone agreed that the members only event featuring TG and Dave Jones before Christmas and the stadium tours were the kind of benefits people are looking for. The free fanzine was also seen as a great success and we will of course be trying to organise more events and updates like this in the future.

There were a lot of ideas about the website and whether there should be a members only area on it so that minutes of the meetings with the club, for example, are only accessible to paid up members. Another suggestion was for a monthly Trust lottery with the proceeds going to the Fred Keenor statue appeal. It was suggested we might want to get more closely involved with local football teams and consider sponsoring the Academy or a named player every season. Player evenings would be a fantastic draw for members, but they are proving difficult to arrange at the moment.

Communication with fans is always high on the agenda and we had some really good feedback on how we can improve this. Ali the stadium announcer has been really helpful in publicising events at matches and we will look at using the big screen at the stadium as well as providing more frequent emails to members. Please keep the ideas coming and let us know how you want to get involved.

Remember, it's your Trust so let's make it work - for us. the members, and for Cardiff City! The next open meeting is at the Deri Inn, Rhiwbina, on St David's Day.
