Vidmar in South Africa with Socceroos

Tony Vidmar starts tonight for Australia when they line up against South Africa in Durban.

Vidmar wins his 82nd cap tonight. His first was virtually 14 years ago to the day. He came on as a 61st min sub for Australia in a home game against Czechoslovakia on Wednesday Feb 6th, 1991. The Aussie's lost 0 - 2 in Sydney that night.

Australian line up tonight

Mark Schwarzer (GK); Lucas Neill, Craig Moore (c), Tony Popovic, Tony Vidmar, Jason Culina, Vince Grella, Marco Bresciano, Danny Tiatto, Paul Agostino, Brett Emerton.

City will be keeping a careful eye on tonights international proceedings. The usual centre half pairing of Daniel Gabbidon and James Collins is in severe doubt for Saturdays vital home match against Brighton. Collins was hurt playing for the U21's last night and must be certain to miss the weekend. Gabbidon is with the Wales squad but unlikely to feature tonight becuase of a hamstring problem. Hopefully he will miss the game in order to be fit for Saturday. Why should just Giggs, Savage and the rest be allowed to pull out to protect themselves?

Gabbidons place in the Wales line up tonight is likely to go to Robert Page. God help us if we lose another defender.

Fingers crossed Vidmar and Page will come through unscathed to give us cover for the weekend.
