Welcome to Cardiff City.

Tony Vidmar spoke to the press at Ninian Park today and is looking forward to the challenge of playing for Cardiff City.

Vidmar, a current Aussie international, is a left back or central defender.

Lennie would not reveal the length of contract given but it was later said it was a one year deal.

Vidmar is from Adelaide, he's been in Europe for the past 9 or 10 years. Last season he was at Middlesbrough and before that he was a regular for Glasgow Rangers. He started his European career in Belgium and also played in Holland.
One thing that was confirmed is his age. He ihas just turned 33, not 34.

Tony Vidmar is looking to keep his international place for Australia and told the press that the majority of games are played in Europe. There is the fear that he could have to miss Cardiff games because of international duty but he said that the Aussie coach was lenient if players had club duties and with most games structured around the European international games it was not such a problem.

Vidmar played at left back for Rangers and at centre back for Middlesbrough but Lennie has revealed that Vidmar will start the season at centre back in place of the suspended Spencer Prior.

Lennie would not be drawn into discussions on other players but said if there was anything else to announce there would be another press conference on Thursday at the same time.
