Wales call ups mean City call offs

James Collins is in the Wales squad for the U21 international between Wales and Serbia at Jenner Park, Barry on Friday October 10th.

City have three players in the full squad for the match in the Millennium Stadium against Serbia on Saturday October 11th.

Robert Earnshaw, Daniel Gabbidon and Rhys Weston are all named in the 29 man party. Wales are guaranteeed a play off spot and it would take one of the upsets of all time for Azerbaijan to take points off Italy to allow Wales a chance of automatic qualification.

Centre halves Melville and Page are both on yellow cards so Gabbidon is sure to start as Hughes looks ahead to the play offs five weeks later.

The game in Cardiff has been confirmed as a 7:45pm kick off on Saturday evening.

Because of these call ups Cardiff City's game against West Brom scheduled for 3pm that afternoon at Ninian Park will be re-arranged.

With the three senior players above also likely to take part in the play offs for Wales the home game v Preston planned for Nov 15th is also certain to be called off. Neither of those games have new dates yet.

One match which can now go ahead is Cardiff City v Watford on October 28th. Both clubs were knocked out of the Carling Cup this week so the re-arranged league fixture can go ahead on the 28th.
