Wales now 52nd in FIFA rankings

The final FIFA World rankings table has seen Wales jump 9 places to 52. Wales are now the third highest ranked British Isles team behind England (7th) and Ireland (14th). Scotland have dropped to 58th and Northern Ireland to 103rd.

Wins over Germany, Finland, Italy and Azerbaijan along draws against Argentina and Croatia have helped Wales virtually half their starting position at the beginning of the year.

Wales narrowly missed out to Senegal for the rise of the season award despite Cymru climbing 10 more places than the Africans. In fact Wales were the biggest movers out of the 203 teams listed by FIFA. They claim Senegal achievment was greater as they moved in the higher reaches of the table.
