Watford promoted as Wigan face certain releagtion

Last updated : 26 April 2015 By Michael Morris

The first promotion of the season from the Championship has been confirmed. Watford, who won at Brighton in the lunchtime game, were promoted when Middlesbrough were beaten by a last minute Ross McCormack goal at Fulham and Norwich only managed a draw at Rotherham.

Congratulations to Watford (who were beaten by City at Vicarage Rd earlier in the season).

Bournemouth play Bolton on Monday and a win would all but confirm their promotion as they would have a three point lead with a much better goal difference.

The points dropped by Middlesbrough and Norwich look likely to prove crucial and both look set to settle for the play offs.

With one game to go Ipswich look like they will secure a play off spot with one of Derby, Brentford or Wolves getting the final place.

Cardiff will finish between 10th and 14th place in the table depending on results on the final day. Yesterday's 3 - 2 win over Blackpool mean the club cannot finish below Leeds in 15th place.

There are two relegation places left to sort out. Rotherham can send both Wigan and Millwall down if they win their game in hand over Reading this week. A point for Rotherham would send Wigan down.

Millwall's only chance comes if Rotherham fail to beat Reading and then lose their last game on Saturday. Millwall will of course have to win their final game. But as I say, that will be academic if Rotherham win on Tuesday.

If they do they will have stayed up despite getting a three point deduction.
