Welcome home Earnie. West Brom preview

West Brom visit Ninian park this afternoon as City play their final senior game before the big kick off at Ipswich next Saturday.

Of course you cannot write any preview without mentioning Robert Earnshaw. City's record holding goalscorer and icon returns to Ninian Park to have a chance to say a proper farewell.

"I'm looking forward to going back to Cardiff. I can't wait. It will be the first time I've played at Ninian Park since I left and it's going to be emotional," said Earnshaw.

"My move to West Brom happened in a flash. One minute I was at Cardiff, the next I was gone. It will be nice to see the Cardiff fans again - and for them to see me.

"Ever since I came into the team, the fans there were brilliant to me. I still get letters from Cardiff fans, even though I'm at West Brom.

"I wasn't able to say goodbye to them when I left Cardiff, but now I can.

"I've still got a lot of affection for the club. I still look out for their results and follow what's happening there. It will be very strange to go inside Ninian Park and get changed in the visitors' dressing room."

For City it's tme to make the final preparations for the opening game against Ipswich. Dave Jones' starting line up today may give us a clue as to a likely line up for next week. I expect darren Purse to play today but it may be to soon for Jason Koumas. He has not had chance to train fully but who knows. Both may be relishing the chance to play again the team they were employed by less than a week ago.

Kick off is at 3:00pm and we will have full reaction and reports later.
