Talking to the official site Whalley said it was Sam Hammam that sold the club to him. He also got the backing of his former boss Dario Gradi who said it was a good move him.
Whalley was attracting the interest of some first division clubs but City went for and got their man.
Early comments from Bradford fans who supported Whalley while he was at Valley Parade have said
"You've got yourself a hell of a player. A lot of his work goes un-noticed by many fans, but getting voted players player of the season during our promotion season says it all."
and"You have got yourself a fantastic player."
