Willo's winner sees Leeds in Flood's of tears

Cardiff City sit in the top two of the Championship with just alphabetical order keeping us from top spot.

A blockbusting match has been set up for next Saturday with Birmingham City, the team in first place, the visitors to Ninian Park. Cameron Jerome has completed his suspension so will be available to play. Darren Purse alas will not face his former club after seeing red at Leeds when he raised his hands and, to quote Dave Jones, "Darren says he got Healy by the throat and pushed him away." No chance of an appeal then. Purse will pay the price of his moment of madness with Roger Johnson being given the chance to make the place alongside Glen Loovens his own.

City started the match with Marvin Kamara in the line up. Dave Jones decided not to put Willo Flood straight in after he's had little training this week as he was away with Ireland U21's.

Young Darcy Blake was on the bench with no reserve keeper named in the 16.

Flood came off the bench to replace Kamara in the 68th minute and 15 mins later he got the winner. The Bluebirds punished Leeds when they broke at speed with Chopra and Flood combining to set up the winner that Flood placed under former Bluebird Tony Warner.

City saw out the remaining time but lost Purse in the 90th minute. He will get a three match ban.

This was the perfect tonic for the City fans who were disappointed with the news on Friday that the club was withdrawing it's efforts to sign Jason Koumas. Obviously with 10 points from 12 the team are doing well enough without him but at this level any squad with Jason in it would be a stronger squad.

I'm as disappointed as the rest that we have not signed him yet. I hope the player can sort himself out to play again for W.B.A. or still hopefully us, I've not given up all hope, not with another 12 days to go before the transfer window. I think the lad went out on a limb for us by refusing to train with Bryan Robson's team. He must be devastated the deal has failed and now has to return to Albion, that won't be easy.

Still at the moment that's another story. Today's story is that again we have beaten Leeds Utd. This is the second season in a row we have won at Elland Rd and it feels bloody marvellous.

Well done Dave Jones, Willo Flood and everybody else.
