Worthington Cup now the Carling Cup..

The Worthington Cup has become the Carling Cup after brewers Coors renewed their deal with the football league.

The draw for round 1 will take place at 10am on Wednesday June 25th.

The Football League have announced a three-year deal with brewers Coors which will see the League Cup named the Carling Cup from next season.

The League's previous deal with Coors - which saw the competition go under the Worthington Cup banner for five years - ended at the end of last term but a new contract has been agreed.

Concerns had been raised over the search for a sponsor after Coors initially stalled on signing a new deal, with many League teams still struggling to recover from the financial problems brought on by the ITV Digital collapse.
