Leeds Utd 0 - 4 Cardiff City. Match Report

Last updated : 26 October 2010 By Michael Morris
A 10 minute spell in the second half smashed Leeds to pieces with City quickily racking up a 4 nil lead.

At half time it was 1 - 0. A long punt from Tom Heaton was chased down by Jay Bothroyd and hesitancy in the Leeds defence between Bruce and Schmeicel allowed the City striker to nick a goal.

Jay could be considered lucky to have stayed on the pitch when slo mo replays of a tackle showed he went over the ball (although i thought he may have touched the ball to assist the elevation of his foot) but credit to the Leeds player he got up and carried on. City carved out chances and looked the stronger team.

The game was blown to bits though by a devastating spell in the second half. Mark Hudson won a defensive challenge and played Chopra in on goal, no doubt he was half a yard offside but Chopra didn't know that and finished with aplomb despite Schmeicel's efforts.

Then for me the goal of the game. Bellamy won possession near his own box, advanced to halfway and fed Bothroyd, he played Burke down the line before following up in the box to sidefoot home Burke's pass. If that was Fabregas, Wilshire and Nasri it would a goal of the season contender.

3 - 0 up and City tightened the screw even further. Good possession wide left set up Naylor to rifle home the 4th. Schmeicel was flatfooted and rooted to the spot.

Game over. City kept possession for the next 10 - 15 mins and the stats show that for that 25 min period of the second half City had 76% possession. Just incredible.

Time for Leeds to have a goal ruled out for offside and for Craig Bellamy to do keepy uppy's on the touchline.

Full respect to Leeds who admitted the gulf in class and well done City. Awesome just about sums it up.

Cardiff are joint top with 29 points. Swansea are 3rd with 23 points and Norwich are 4th with 23 points.

Cardiff City's next two games are Norwich (home) and Swansea (home).

Don't look away. It's magic.
