Match Facts

This will be Mansfield’s first home league game against Cardiff since a 0-1 defeat in October 2002 under Stuart Watkiss.

Cardiff have won eight of their last 10 league games against Mansfield, although have lost two of their last three away from home.

Since and including the end of the curtailed 2019-20 season, Mansfield are unbeaten across their six final league games of an EFL campaign (W4 D2), winning 3-0 on home soil vs Exeter last season.

Only Lincoln City (87) have scored more goals in League One this season than Cardiff (86), with this already the most the Bluebirds have struck in a campaign since 2000-01 (95).

Brian Barry-Murphy shared his thoughts with Cardiff City TV ahead of Saturday’s final league match of the season away at Mansfield Town.

“They’re a very good team with an exceptional manager and have shown throughout the course of season how good they are," Brian began. "We’re looking forward to it very much, however It’ll be a real tough challenge but one we’re ready for.

“Mansfield have shown how dangerous they can be and their record in the cup competitions would have probably grabbed everyone's attention. We knew ourselves a lot about them before we played them at home, so we know of their clear strengths and we’ll try our best to overcome those.”

Reflecting on recent games against Port Vale and Northampton Town, where he made several changes to the side, Barry-Murphy discussed his approach going into the weekend.

He added: “It’ll be the pretty much the same squad as last week for us. We will see in training what we think is the best players for the game will be but it’s like I said, there will be no messing about from us and we are aiming try to do our best in the game to get three points.

“We’ve trained very seriously and are preparing for the game in a manner that our supporters would expect. I’m very pleased with the condition of the players and how we’ve looked in training in so, we will be trying our best to produce a good performance to trying to win.”

Barry-Murphy also acknowledged the travelling fans who will once again fill the away end at the One Call Stadium.

He concluded: “It’s another genuine chance to try to give them an exceptional day out and to reward the incredible support we’ve had throughout the course of the season. They’ve travelled so many long distances and incurred many different expenses.

"To try and give them one more memorable away day together this season before we break for our summer holidays is a huge bit of motivation for us all.”
