BBC Wales commentator Rob Phillips has revealed he suffered a heart attack shortly after Cardiff City’s defeat at Bolton earlier this month.
After experiencing severe chest pains, former City striker Nathan Blake refused to let him drive home and insisted he get medical help. Blake contacted former Bolton teammate John McGinlay, who helped arrange treatment from the club doctor.
Rob was taken to hospital and was on the operating table within an hour, where doctors unblocked an artery.
Rob has since thanked Bolton, the medical teams and, above all, Nathan Blake, saying: “Without him I might not even be here.”
