Cardiff City return to home action on Saturday with Burnley the visitors to Cardiff City Stadium. The Bluebirds will be looking to maintain their impressive home form, which has now seen them go 11 league matches unbeaten on their own ground.

Brian Barry-Murphy is looking forward to the challenge, despite facing a Burnley side with plenty of experience following their recent spell in the Premier League.

“I can't wait,” Brian began. “We've recovered really well from Wednesday night's game. We want to try and play a great game on Saturday and win.

“Coming down from the Premier League, they obviously have a squad that is full of players who have been there and done it. But, our focus is purely on our own players.

“For every player that they have, we believe we have a player that is equally as good. It's that potential of our team that makes us so excited moving forward.

“When it comes to Saturday, we'll treat the game in isolation, give our absolute best, be really aggressive and try and win.”

Home form continues to impress

City's unbeaten home run in league action currently stands at 11 matches, and the manager is keen to keep that record going for as long as possible.

The support from the home crowd has played an important part, and Barry-Murphy wants his players to continue producing the sort of performances that create an atmosphere inside Cardiff City Stadium.

“It's something that we're really proud of. It feels even more special because of the support we get from our fans in our home stadium when it's in such good condition.

“It's something we want to replicate on the pitch and give performances that allow us to create a real energy and aggression in the stadium, to go for every single game.

“Playing against an ex-Premier League team on Saturday will be no different. We'll have a go at the game, try and win and try and show ourselves in the best light.”

A busy schedule and squad resilience

With injuries and suspensions continuing to stretch the squad, Cardiff have had to show plenty of character during a busy spell of fixtures.

Wednesday night's game means another quick turnaround, but Barry-Murphy sees the opportunity to play at home again as something to look forward to rather than a problem.

“The quick turnaround is something we're actually excited by. We get to play in our home stadium again. It will be an outstanding game for us before the international break.

“We've spoken about sticking together and bouncing back. This early part of the season has been really beneficial for us to show the resilience and grit that is evident in this team.

“To show it during the course of a season is very important. As the season progresses and we grow stronger with our team, then that can only benefit us and we know we'll finish the season in a great manner.”

Burnley will provide another demanding test, but Cardiff have shown they are capable of competing with the strongest sides in the division.
