Excellent City win at the Ricoh

Freddy Eastwood missed an early chance when one on one with Enckelman who made a good stop. Dave Jones has now been proved correct with his "we can do better than Eastwood comment" on tonights evidence as Bothroyd and McCormack were excellent, worked hard and created several opportunities.

We really should have been 3-0 up by half-time with the number of chances we had but in fairness their keeper Westwood made some excellent stops, none better than a flying save from an absolutely superb McCormack volley from the edge of the area.

In midfield Ledley and Rae ran the game, Burke was a handful on the wing and often looked to take on the full back. Parry was a little quieter - he did beat his man a few times but the crosses in were not great but he still worked hard.

At the back all the defenders looked solid, Johnson and Gypes rarely put a foot wrong and though I was unimpressed when we signed Kennedy he is doing a very efficient job at left back. Commingues is not as good as McNaughton but had a decent game tonight.

We dominated the game for 70 minutes or so, especially in the 15 minutes leading up to half time when we passed the ball superbly. Coventry did have a period of possession for the last 20 minutes when we dropped off a little but they didn't really do much with it

Overheard some Coventry fans on the way out who were raving about McCormack's performance and can't believe we only paid £120K for him. I'm sure they would swop Eastwood for him

Overall a professional performance.
