Moore goals for Kieffer as Wycombe's race almost run

Last updated : 24 April 2021 By Michael Morris

Kieffer Moore became the first Cardiff City player to score 20 League goals in a season since Peter Whittingham in 2009 / 10. The following season Jay Bothroyd had a 20 goal season but a couple of those came in the Carling Cup.

Moore's goals today all but condemned Wycombe to relegation. Gareth Ainsworth's side are six points from safety with just two games to play. They also have a -13 GD on Derby County, the team in 21st place. Factor in Sheff Weds and Rotherham who are also chasing Derby then relegation for Wycombe is as close to a done deal as you can get.

21st Derby Co P44 Pts 43 GD -21
------------------------------
22nd Rotherham P42 Pts 39 GD -15
23rd Wednesday P44 Pts 39 GD -21
24th Wycombe W P44 Pts 37 GD -34

All four sides lost today

Cardiff led after Moore fired home on 22 mins. City failed to see out the first half before giving away a penalty when Morrison fouled Fred Onyedinma just before the break. Up stepped for Cardiff player Joe Jacobson and 15 years after leaving the club scored from the penalty spot on his return.

Moore scored his second goal midway through the second half and this time Wycombe could not come back. The game ended with a red card for Will Vaulks who last less than two minutes after coming off the bench in added time.

Credit to Rubin Colwill who impressed on his full debut. Next up it's Birmingham away next Saturday (3pm). Both clubs playing for pride.
